عادات کے غلام

ایک کسان روز اپنے گدھے پر دور سے زرخیز مٹی اپنے کھیتوں کیلئے لے کر آتا تھا. دوپہر میں درمیان راستے میں ایک درخت کے پاس گدھے کو باندھ کر سو جاتا اور کچھ دیر آرام کرلیتا تھا.

ایک دن کسان اپنے ساتھ رسی لے جانا بھول گیا. دوپہر کو آرام کے وقت یہ پریشانی بن گئی کے آرام کرے گا تو گدھا کہیں بھاگ جائے گا, اور آرام نہ کیا تو تھکن سے برا حال ہوجانا. اسی پریشانی میں تھا کہ ایک دانشمند وہاں سے گزرا. کسان کو پریشان دیکھا تو پوچھا کیا مسئلہ ہے.؟

کسان نے اپنا مسئلہ بتایا, دانشمند نے اسے کہا کہ یہ کوئی بڑا مسئلہ نہیں. تم گدھے کو باندھنے کی جھوٹ موٹ اداکاری کرلو. یہ کہیں نہیں جائے گا. کسان نے ایسا ہی کیا. اور اُس کی خیرت کی انتہا نہ رہی جب سو کر اٹھا تو گدھا وہیں کھڑا تھا.

اب کسان اسے لے کر جانے لگا, لیکن گدھا ہل کر نہ دیا, بہت کوشش کی مارا, لیکن گدھا کھڑا رہا. اتفاق سے وہی دانشمند دوبارہ گزرا, پوچھا کیا مسئلہ ہے. کسان نے کہا اب یہ جانے کو تیار نہیں. دانشمند مسکرایا اور کہا, اب اسے کھولنے کی اداکاری تو کرلو پہلے. کسان نے ایسا ہی کیا, اور گدھا چل پڑھا.

یہ گدھا اپنی عادت کا غلام تھا. ایسے ہی ہم اپنی زندگی کو کچھ عادات کے کھونٹوں سے باندھ دیتے ہیں. یہ نادیدہ رسیاں وقت کے ساتھ اتنی مضبوط ہوجاتی ہیں. کہ ہم تبدیلی سے خوف کھاتے ہیں. زندگی کے جمود کو توڑنے کیلئے بہت سی نادیدہ رسیاں توڑنی ہوتی ہیں. ورنہ وقت گزرنے کے بعد جب ہم جان پاتے ہیں, کہ یہ نادیدہ حصار صرف ہمھاری تبدیلی سے بچنے کے خوف نے بنایا تھا, تو بہت پچھتاوا ہوتا ہے.

How to Unlock Value of Best People.

Everyone knows that happy employees are more productive.

Not everyone knows how much.

In some professions the difference can be 10 fold.

This is what managers can do if they are not doing it already:

Accept that employees know more than you do.

In modern day and age it is impossible to know everything. Empowering people who know more than we do is the real answer.

Stop calling and treating employees as "resources".

People are colleagues and team members, not dehumanised resources and commodities.

Make recognition of accomplishments real.

Thanks are due when thanks are due. But the scale of the reward should meet the scale of the accomplishment. Stop recognising and rewarding wrong people.

Money is not everything, however

People should be paid what they deserve.

Stop managing up:

e.g. switching priorities, useless meetings and red tape

Integrity

It is better to lose doing the right thing, than to win doing the wrong thing.

Let them do things properly:

A wood cutter is busy cutting trees, day in and out. A passer-by says why dont you sharpen you saw ? The wood cutter says I do NOT have time to sharpen my saw, my boss keeps me too busy.

Find the right perspective:

He sees a shadow, you see a light that casts it.

He sees the night, you see the moon.

He sees a corporation, you see people who make it thrive.

He sees millennials, you see our bright future.

He sees success, you see a journey.

He sees you, a stranger. You see him, your future friend.

Happy employees can be found working for managers who are thoughtful and knowledgeable, fearless and kind, grateful and confident, honest and passionate.

Best people work for caring leaders.

ابوسعید ابوالخیر سے کسی نے کہا؛ ''کیا کمال کا انسان ھو گا وہ جو ھوا میں اُڑ سکے۔''

ابوسعید نے جواب دیا؛ ''یہ کونسی بڑی بات ھے، یہ کام تو مکّھی بھی کر سکتی ھے۔''

''اور اگر کوئی شخص پانی پر چل سکے اُس کے بارے میں آپ کا کیا فرمانا ھے؟

''یہ بھی کوئی خاص بات نہیں ھے کیونکہ لکڑی کا ٹکڑا بھی سطحِ آب پر تیر سکتا ھے۔''

ؔؔ''تو پھر آپ کے خیال میں کمال کیا ھے؟''

''میری نظر میں کمال یہ ھے کہ لوگوں کے درمیان رھو اور کسی کو تمہاری زبان سے تکلیف نہ پہنچے۔

جھوٹ کبھی نہ کہو، کسی کا تمسخر مت اُڑاؤ۔ کسی کی ذات سے کوئی ناجائز فائدہ مت اُٹھاؤ، یہ کمال ھیں۔

یہ ضروری نہیں کہ کسی کی ناجائز بات یا عادت کو برداشت کیا جائے، یہ کافی ھے کہ کسی کے بارے میں بن جانے کوئی رائے قائم نہ کریں۔

یہ لازم نہیں ھے کہ ھم ایک دوسرے کو خوش کرنے کی کوشش کریں، یہ کافی ھے کہ ایک دوسرے کو تکلیف نہ پہنچائیں۔

یہ ضروری نہیں کہ ھم دوسروں کی اصلاح کریں، یہ کافی ھے کہ ھماری نگاہ اپنے عیوب پر ھو۔

حتّیٰ کہ یہ بھی ضروری نہیں کہ ھم ایک دوسرے سے محبّت کریں، اتنا کافی ھے کہ ایک دوسرے کے دشمن نہ ھوں۔

دوسروں کے ساتھ امن کے ساتھ جینا کمال ھے۔''
