First Muslim Nuclear Nation
First on the list of most interesting facts about Pakistan is a rather powerful, and important weapon in today's world. Pakistan became the first Islamic nation to attain nuclear power. The times were tough and war with India seemed inevitable in 1998. Pakistan, successfully pursuing a secret nuclear program, exploded a bomb in the mountains of Chaghi on the 28th May, 1998 granted her the status of the first Muslim nation to possess effective nuclear weapons.
Largest Ambulance Network
For a country that is not so huge, Pakistan has managed to create the largest ambulance network in the world, all thanks to the Edhi Foundation, founded by Abdul Sattar Edhi as a non-profit social welfare organization. The foundation provides 24/7 emergency services to those in need including medical, healthcare and shelter for orphan. The organization started with a single room and now has over 300 centers all around the country, with branches in countries like the UK, USA, Japan, Canada and China.
Largest Irrigation System
Nature has been kind to Pakistan in various ways. The piece of land which came Pakistan's way after the partition from India, provided the country with the world's largest irrigation network, a network that serves 14.4 million hectares of cultivated land. This irrigation system is fed by the Indus River.
Karakoram Highway
Karakoram highway was constructed at an elevation of 4,693 meters or 15,397 feet. Owing to the astounding altitude and the tremendously difficult conditions it was constructed in, the highway is referred to as the Eighth Wonder of the World. It connects China's Xinjiang region with the Gilgit-Baltistan region of Pakistan.
Gwadar Port
Finally on our list of most interesting facts about Pakistan, we have the largest deep-sea port in the world – Gwadar Port. Though currently not functioning as it should, it is under development, as part of CPEC, to become one of the major ports in the sub-continent.
